FRASER ISLAND SHORT-NECKED TURTLE
Emydura macquarii nigra

A melanistic pygmy form of the southern Emydura complex restricted to Fraser Island and the adjacent Cooloola Peninsula.

Occupies the dune lakes of the island. Distinguished by its almost black colouration and absence of a yelloweye stripe.
