STEINDACHNER’S TURTLE
Chelodina steindachneri

Inhabits creeks or waterholes in arid Western Australia. Feeds on fish, shrimp and carrion.

With its circular shell, it is colloquially known as the dinner plate turtle. In drought, when waterholes are dry.

It burrows into mud and may aestivate for 2-3 years.
